James Mendelsohn is an experienced advisor and operator in financial services, especially small business lending, payments, and consumer finance. His focus is on small business lenders, payment processors and merchant acquirers, and investment funds, on go-to-market strategies and capital transactions (both debt and equity).
In his career, he has had leadership roles in marketing and operations in financial services, notably at Capital One, where he served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy, leading marketing, digital, and customer experience strategy efforts across the credit card, banking, and financial services lines of businesses. He was also Chief Marketing & Sales Officer for CAN Capital, a leading non-bank provider of financing to small business. He launched Liberis Finance in the US, working in partnership with FIS Worldpay, and has advised numerous other lenders, payment processors, and factoring companies.
He was also a leader in McKinsey’s Marketing & Sales practice, advising global clients in the financial services sector on marketing analytics, market intelligence, digital strategy, and customer experience.
James has a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he was an NSF Fellow, and an M.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Maryland.
