Mr. Wookey’s career spans involvement in Chartered Accounting and audit, equity and credit analysis, investment banking, corporate advisory and restructuring and funds management for over three decades. His early career included working with Price Waterhouse Coopers in their audit and advisory divisions. After gaining qualifications including Fellow of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants Mr. Wookey then transitioned to working with leading groups Potter Partners (now UBS), before elevation to leading Executive Director roles with County NatWest (now Citibank/Salomon Smith Barney) and HSBC, before establishing Cartesian Capital where he remains Executive Chairman.

His success as a top-rated equity analyst enabled him to be nominated for membership of the Australian Stock Exchange before completing an MBA with the University of Melbourne Business School. After establishing County NatWest’s Equity Capital Markets division Mr. Wookey led many innovative global capital raising transactions and advised many of the ASX listed companies he had previously analysed on diverse issues including capital initiatives and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Wookey has many formal qualifications including Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Approved Advisor of the Advisory Board Centre, Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting) – Victoria University, Fellow of FINSIA where he also lead-lectured their Post Graduate Diploma for Banking and Finance for ten years before becoming a visiting fellow and lecturer for Macquarie University’s Master of Finance. Mr. Wookey was a founding member of The Urgent Issues Group established by The Australian Accounting Standards Board.
