The end of one year and the beginning of the next is often a time of reflection for business owners. Many will spend time thinking about what can be done to move the business forward and reach that next stage of growth and success.
While this is certainly a worthwhile exercise, it’s important to set realistic goals to avoid losing motivation before January is over. Write them down and display them in a prominent place where you’ll see them. That way, you’ll always have your goals in mind as you make decisions that impact your business.
5 Small Business New Year’s Resolutions for 2022
- Make your website more user-friendly
If it’s been a while since you revamped your website, the new year is an excellent time to take another look. First, see if its design still works for desktop and mobile. Then run speed tests to determine how fast your pages load and light tests to determine if your design is accessible for all visitors.
- Make business planning a priority
It’s easy to let business planning slip to the back burner when you’re busy doing, well, everything else. Next year, spend time every week planning for your business. Are you on track to meet your revenue goals? What threats do you
need to get ahead of? Are your goals still relevant? Being consistent will make business planning a habit instead of a time-consuming task that you only do once every few months.
- Take off a hat
Small business owners wear lots of hats. Unfortunately, that’s just part of the deal, especially when you’re in startup mode. Moving forward, resolve to take off one of your hats. You can do this by hiring someone to handle that aspect of your business or finding a company to outsource that work. Once you get rid of one hat, you’ll be able to focus more on the aspects of your business that matter the most to you.
- Join an organization related to your business
Make 2022 the year you get out there and let everyone know about your business. Find an appropriate networking group or organization related to your business or entrepreneurship in general and aim to attend at least one event a month. You never know where the connections you make will lead.
- Automate one task
Many business owners unknowingly waste a lot of time on manual processes that could be automated. So, next year, find one task that you can automate, such as sending invoices, managing inventory, or responding to emails. If that works, add more.
